Job Description

Wincanton plc is seeking a diligent and experienced Supply Chain Controller to join our dynamic team in Stroud, Gloucestershire. This pivotal role is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain operations, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with all relevant regulations. The successful candidate will be instrumental in managing inventory, logistics, and supplier relationships to support our operational goals. You will play a key role in analysing supply chain data, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategies that enhance our overall supply chain performance and resilience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor all aspects of the supply chain, including procurement, inventory management, warehousing, and transportation.
  • Develop and implement supply chain strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service delivery.
  • Conduct regular analysis of supply chain performance metrics and prepare detailed reports for management.
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers and logistics partners to secure favourable terms and maintain high service levels.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, company policies, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, finance, and sales, to align supply chain activities with business objectives.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks within the supply chain, developing contingency plans as needed.
  • Oversee inventory levels, demand forecasting, and production planning to prevent stockouts and minimise excess inventory.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain function.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in supply chain management or a similar role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in supply chain management software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of logistics, warehousing, and inventory control principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for data analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certification (e.g., CIPS, APICS CSCP/CPIM).
  • Experience with international supply chain operations.
  • Knowledge of UK/EU customs regulations and import/export procedures.
