Job Description
Wincanton plc is seeking a diligent and experienced Supply Chain Controller to join our dynamic team in Stroud, Gloucestershire. This pivotal role is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain operations, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with all relevant regulations. The successful candidate will be instrumental in managing inventory, logistics, and supplier relationships to support our operational goals. You will play a key role in analysing supply chain data, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategies that enhance our overall supply chain performance and resilience.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor all aspects of the supply chain, including procurement, inventory management, warehousing, and transportation.
- Develop and implement supply chain strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service delivery.
- Conduct regular analysis of supply chain performance metrics and prepare detailed reports for management.
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers and logistics partners to secure favourable terms and maintain high service levels.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, company policies, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, finance, and sales, to align supply chain activities with business objectives.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks within the supply chain, developing contingency plans as needed.
- Oversee inventory levels, demand forecasting, and production planning to prevent stockouts and minimise excess inventory.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain function.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in supply chain management or a similar role.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in supply chain management software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of logistics, warehousing, and inventory control principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for data analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., CIPS, APICS CSCP/CPIM).
- Experience with international supply chain operations.
- Knowledge of UK/EU customs regulations and import/export procedures.
