Job Description

We are seeking enthusiastic and compassionate individuals to join our team as Patient Transport Officers on a casual day roster. This is an incredible opportunity for those looking to start a career in healthcare, as full training will be provided to successful candidates. As a Patient Transport Officer, you will be responsible for the safe, comfortable, and timely transportation of patients to various medical appointments, between hospitals, or to their residences. You will work closely with medical professionals and support staff, ensuring patient dignity and safety are maintained at all times. This casual role offers flexibility, allowing you to balance work with other commitments, and is perfect for individuals who are reliable, empathetic, and possess a strong work ethic.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely and respectfully transport patients using appropriate lifting and moving techniques.
  • Operate transport vehicles in a safe and responsible manner, adhering to all road safety regulations.
  • Provide basic patient care and support during transport, including monitoring patient comfort.
  • Maintain cleanliness and readiness of transport vehicles and equipment.
  • Accurately complete all necessary documentation related to patient transfers.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and healthcare staff.
  • Adhere to all HealthShare NSW policies and procedures, including infection control and safety protocols.
  • Respond to emergency situations appropriately and follow established protocols.

Required Skills

  • Current Australian Driver's License (unrestricted).
  • Ability to lift and move patients with assistance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated empathy and compassion towards patients.
  • Strong commitment to patient safety and quality care.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work on a casual day roster, including weekends and public holidays as required.
  • Willingness to undertake and successfully complete comprehensive patient transport training.

Preferred Qualifications

  • First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Previous experience in a customer service or care-giving role.
