Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Law Intern to join our Construction Defect Litigation Support team. This is an exceptional entry-level opportunity for a law student or recent graduate eager to gain practical experience in a dynamic legal environment. The intern will provide crucial support to our legal professionals, assisting with research, document management, and case preparation related to complex construction defect claims. This role offers hands-on exposure to the intricacies of litigation, providing a foundational understanding of legal practice within a specialist field. Full training will be provided, making this an ideal stepping stone for aspiring legal careers.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research on specific construction defect statutes, case law, and regulations.
- Assist in the drafting and review of legal documents, including memos, briefs, and pleadings.
- Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
- Support attorneys in preparing for depositions, hearings, and trials.
- Summarize discovery materials, expert reports, and witness statements.
- Coordinate schedules and communications with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
- Perform administrative tasks as needed to ensure efficient team operations.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited Law Degree (LLB, JD, or equivalent) program.
- Strong academic record.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in legal research platforms (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw).
- High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior coursework or demonstrated interest in property law, construction law, or litigation.
- Experience with document review software or e-discovery platforms.
- Ability to commit to the internship for a minimum of 3-6 months.
