Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Executive to join our busy team in Edinburgh. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong foundation in legal principles and practice to contribute to high-quality legal services. The successful candidate will provide essential support to our solicitors and partners, undertaking a variety of tasks that are crucial to the efficient operation of our legal matters. You will be involved in legal research, document drafting, case management, and direct client liaison, ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standards of accuracy and professionalism. This role requires excellent organizational skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting legal research and analysis, preparing summaries and memoranda for solicitors.
  • Drafting and reviewing a variety of legal documents, including contracts, correspondence, and court forms.
  • Assisting with case management, including maintaining case files, tracking deadlines, and coordinating with third parties.
  • Liaising directly with clients, providing updates, gathering information, and responding to inquiries.
  • Preparing bundles and documentation for court hearings, meetings, and transactions.
  • Supporting the preparation of legal opinions, reports, and presentations.
  • Ensuring compliance with firm policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.
  • Performing administrative duties as required to support the legal team.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience working in a legal environment, preferably within a law firm.
  • Strong understanding of legal terminology and principles.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Discretion and ability to handle confidential information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Legal Executive qualification (e.g., CILEX Level 3 or 6 Diploma) or equivalent paralegal qualification.
  • Experience with legal practice management software.
  • Knowledge of Scottish legal system and procedures.
  • Degree in Law or related field.
