Job Description
Siemens is seeking a dedicated and skilled Industrial Automation Engineer to join our innovative team in Cardiff. Key Responsibilities
- Design, program, and implement PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems.
- Develop and execute automation solutions for industrial processes from concept to commissioning.
- Conduct thorough system testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.
- Provide technical support and comprehensive training to operational and maintenance staff.
- Participate actively in project planning, execution, and commissioning phases.
- Ensure all automation solutions comply with relevant safety standards and industry regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, and IT departments.
- Prepare detailed technical documentation, reports, and project specifications.
- Stay updated with new technologies, tools, and industry trends in industrial automation.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000).
- Extensive experience with SCADA/HMI development (e.g., Siemens WinCC, Rockwell FactoryTalk View, Ignition).
- Strong understanding of industrial control systems, instrumentation, and sensor technologies.
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Profinet, Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and control narratives.
- Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for complex automation issues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in specific industrial sectors such as manufacturing, automotive, food & beverage, or pharmaceuticals.
- Familiarity with functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 13849, IEC 61508).
- Experience with robotic systems, machine vision systems, or advanced control techniques.
- Prior project management experience in an industrial automation setting.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Certified Automation Professional).
