Job Description
Are you ready for a physically active and rewarding role in outdoor construction support? The Home Depot is seeking a dedicated Deck Building Lumber Carrier to join our team in Clearwater, FL. In this essential role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation and organization of lumber and other building materials directly to and from our customers’ deck building project sites. This is a hands-on position requiring strength, stamina, and a commitment to safety and teamwork. You will be working primarily outdoors, contributing directly to the success of various construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely load, unload, and transport various types of lumber and construction materials, including heavy and bulky items, to designated outdoor construction sites.
- Organize and stack materials neatly and securely at job sites, ensuring easy access for construction teams and compliance with safety standards.
- Operate various material handling equipment as needed (e.g., pallet jacks, hand trucks) following proper training and safety protocols.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work area both at the store and on job sites.
- Perform routine checks on materials for quality and quantity, reporting any discrepancies.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and customers to ensure smooth project flow.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Provide general support to construction teams as needed, assisting with tasks that require manual labor.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects regularly (up to 75 lbs) and perform strenuous physical labor for extended periods.
- Strong work ethic and reliability, with a positive attitude.
- Ability to work effectively in an outdoor environment, enduring various weather conditions.
- Basic understanding of construction site safety practices.
- Excellent physical stamina and endurance.
- Effective communication skills and a team-player mentality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a physically demanding role, such as landscaping, warehousing, or general labor.
- Familiarity with various types of lumber and building materials.
- Basic knowledge of hand tools used in construction.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (for potential future advancement to delivery roles).
