Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Telecommunications Network Engineer to join our dynamic team in Rochester, MN. This role is crucial for designing, implementing, and maintaining our advanced telecommunications network infrastructure. The successful candidate will work with cutting-edge technologies to ensure the reliability, performance, and security of our global network. Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and troubleshoot network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
- Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
- Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hotfixes and security configurations.
- Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
- Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team.
- Provide Level 2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve network-related issues.
- Collaborate with other IT staff and vendors to develop and implement new solutions and improve existing infrastructure.
- Document network processes, configurations, and network diagrams.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in network engineering within a telecommunications or large enterprise environment.
- Solid understanding of network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS).
- Experience with LAN/WAN concepts, VPNs, and wireless networking.
- Familiarity with network hardware from vendors like Cisco, Juniper, or Fortinet.
- Ability to perform network troubleshooting and analysis using various tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, JNCIS).
- Experience with network automation and scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible).
- Knowledge of cloud networking platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Understanding of VoIP and unified communications systems.
