Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and motivated Loading Bay Operative to join our team for an immediate start on the night shift. As a key member of our logistics operation in Burlington, Ontario, you will be responsible for the efficient and safe handling of incoming and outgoing goods within our busy loading bay. This role is crucial to ensuring products are sorted, loaded, and unloaded accurately and on schedule, contributing directly to our customer satisfaction. Full training will be provided to ensure you are equipped to excel in this fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload trailers using various equipment, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Efficiently sort, organize, and stack packages, pallets, and other goods within the loading bay area.
- Operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and hand trucks (training provided) to move items.
- Perform pre-shift checks on equipment and report any malfunctions or safety concerns immediately.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment at all times.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, especially those related to safety and operational standards.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to achieve daily targets and operational goals.
- Accurately scan and track inventory as required, ensuring proper documentation.
Required Skills
- Ability to commit to a night shift schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed.
- Physical capability to lift, push, pull, and carry packages weighing up to 49 lbs independently and heavier items with assistance, and to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions effectively.
- A proactive approach to workplace safety.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 months of experience in a warehouse, logistics, manufacturing, or similar physical role.
- Familiarity with operating material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, electric pallet jacks).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
