Job Description

Join Manheim as an Auction Car Driver and become an essential part of our vehicle remarketing operations in Hammond, IN. This entry-level, on-site role is ideal for individuals who enjoy driving and are looking for a stable position. You will be responsible for safely and efficiently moving a variety of vehicles across the auction lot, preparing them for sale, and ensuring their proper placement. No prior auction experience is necessary; we provide comprehensive training. All that’s required is a valid driver’s license and a commitment to safety and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely drive and park vehicles of various sizes (cars, trucks, SUVs) to designated areas on the auction lot.
  • Move vehicles between inspection points, service areas, and staging lanes efficiently.
  • Follow all company safety protocols and traffic laws on company property.
  • Assist with general lot organization and vehicle preparation as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor at all times.
  • Report any vehicle damage or mechanical issues observed during movement to appropriate personnel.

Required Skills

  • Valid state-issued driver's license.
  • Clean driving record with minimal infractions.
  • Ability to operate both automatic and manual transmission vehicles (training provided if needed for manual).
  • Excellent spatial awareness and safe driving skills.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
  • Basic understanding of vehicle operations and controls.
  • Physical ability to enter and exit vehicles frequently, and to walk and stand for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience in a driving, delivery, or logistics role.
  • Familiarity with auction environments or large vehicle lots.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently.
