Job Description

Baptist Health South Florida is seeking a dedicated Dietary / Meal Prep Kitchen Assistant to join our dynamic Nutrition Services team. In this vital role, you will assist with the preparation and delivery of nutritious and appealing meals for our patients and staff, ensuring adherence to dietary guidelines and safety standards. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of food items for patient meals, special diets, and cafeteria service according to established recipes and production sheets.
- Portion and plate food accurately, ensuring presentation standards and dietary restrictions are met.
- Operate basic kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including slicers, blenders, and ovens.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, including washing dishes, sanitizing workstations, and sweeping/mopping kitchen floors.
- Receive and store food deliveries, ensuring proper rotation and inventory control.
- Transport food carts to patient units and assist with meal delivery as needed.
- Adhere strictly to all food safety and sanitation regulations (HACCP) and Baptist Health policies.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations and timely meal service.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the supervisor promptly.
Required Skills
- Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
- Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation principles (training provided).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 pounds, and push/pull food carts.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a food service or kitchen environment (e.g., restaurant, cafeteria, catering), even if not professional.
- Knowledge of basic nutritional guidelines or special diets.
