Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Physical Education Teacher to join our thriving department. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing engaging PE lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, promoting a love for sport and physical activity, and contributing to the overall pastoral life of the school. This role offers an exciting opportunity to inspire young people through a diverse curriculum and extra-curricular activities, encouraging healthy lifestyles and the development of key sporting skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, engaging PE lessons to students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and adapting teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.
- Develop and implement a broad and balanced PE curriculum, encompassing a range of sports and physical activities.
- Organise and lead extra-curricular sports clubs, teams, and competitive fixtures.
- Contribute to the departmental planning, development, and evaluation of the PE curriculum.
- Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and motivated.
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of all students in line with school policies.
- Participate in school-wide duties, pastoral care, and professional development activities.
Required Skills
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK
- A degree in Physical Education or a related subject
- Proven experience teaching PE across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Excellent knowledge of a wide range of sports and physical activities
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
- Ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in leading extra-curricular sports teams to competitive success
- Evidence of continuing professional development in PE
- First Aid qualification
- Ability to teach an additional subject or specialism (e.g., Dance, Health Education)
