Job Description

Are you passionate about making a difference in people’s lives but have no prior healthcare experience? Northern Nevada Health System is offering an incredible opportunity to join our team as an Entry-Level Dialysis Unit Assistant. We are seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals who are eager to learn and contribute to a vital area of patient care. In this role, you will receive comprehensive, hands-on training to assist our skilled dialysis team in providing high-quality care to patients undergoing dialysis treatments. No prior medical experience is necessary – we will provide all the training you need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist nurses and dialysis technicians with patient preparation for treatment, including weighing patients and taking vital signs.
  • Monitor patients during dialysis sessions under direct supervision, reporting any changes or concerns to the nursing staff.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment in the dialysis unit.
  • Transport patients within the facility as needed.
  • Stock supplies and ensure equipment is ready for use.
  • Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Document patient information accurately and timely as trained.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care
  • Reliability and strong work ethic
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, and lift safely as required by the role

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (will train if not certified)
  • Previous experience in a customer service role
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish)
