Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and physically capable Olive Oil Press Cleanup Laborer to join our team in London, Ontario. This vital role is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and operational readiness of our olive oil pressing facilities. Working in an environment that can be slippery due to oil and water, the successful candidate will perform thorough cleaning tasks using various tools and cleaning agents. While previous experience in industrial cleaning is a plus, it is not required; full training will be provided to ensure safety and proficiency in all aspects of the job. This position requires a strong commitment to safety protocols, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute daily cleaning and sanitization tasks within the olive oil press area, including machinery, floors, walls, and storage containers.
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as high-pressure washers, floor scrubbers, and specialized brushes.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and hygiene standards, including those specific to food processing environments.
- Safely handle and dispose of waste materials, including olive pomace and wastewater.
- Monitor work areas for potential hazards and report any safety concerns or equipment malfunctions immediately.
- Assist with basic maintenance tasks as needed, under supervision, to ensure equipment longevity.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure efficient and thorough cleanup operations.
- Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times while on duty.
Required Skills
- Ability to work effectively and safely in a wet and potentially slippery environment.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform repetitive tasks, lift moderate weights (up to 25 kg), and stand for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to all company policies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or food processing environment.
- Familiarity with various cleaning chemicals and their safe handling.
- Basic understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
