Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and organized Government Printing Office Assistant to join our team in Georgetown, Ontario. This entry-level position is ideal for an individual looking to start a career in administrative support within a government setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with various tasks related to the production and distribution of government documents and materials, ensuring accuracy and timely completion. Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain printing and copying equipment, including loading paper and changing toner cartridges.
- Assist with the preparation of documents for printing, including collating, binding, laminating, and cutting.
- Perform quality checks on printed materials to ensure adherence to standards and specifications.
- Organize and maintain inventory of printing supplies and notify management when supplies are low.
- Handle incoming and outgoing mail and packages related to printing services.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area within the printing office.
- Provide general administrative support as needed, including data entry and filing.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and departmental procedures.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic computer proficiency (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical ability to lift and move packages up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in an office or administrative support role (volunteer experience considered).
- Familiarity with printing equipment or office machinery.
- A keen interest in public service and government operations.
