Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Fleet Maintenance Engineer to join our team in Mississauga, Ontario. This role is critical to ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of our extensive fleet of vehicles and equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing maintenance programs, troubleshooting complex issues, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement robust preventative maintenance programs for the fleet.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues in vehicles and equipment.
- Analyze fleet performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Manage spare parts inventory and optimize procurement processes.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
- Collaborate with operations and driving teams to minimize downtime and maximize fleet utilization.
- Evaluate new technologies and recommend upgrades to enhance fleet efficiency and reduce operating costs.
- Prepare technical reports and documentation on fleet maintenance activities.
- Provide technical guidance and training to maintenance technicians.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in fleet maintenance, heavy equipment, or automotive engineering.
- Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical diagnostics.
- Proficiency with maintenance management software (CMMS).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineering (P.Eng) designation or eligibility for registration in Ontario.
- Experience with telematics systems and predictive maintenance technologies.
- Knowledge of Canadian transportation regulations (e.g., CVOR, MTO).
- Experience managing diverse fleets including trucks, trailers, and specialized equipment.
- Certification in Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
