Job Description

Embark on a rewarding journey with Riverland Community Health Service as an Allied Health Intern, specializing in Practical Physiotherapy Experience. This internship offers a unique opportunity for aspiring physiotherapy professionals to gain hands-on clinical experience within a supportive community health setting. You will work alongside experienced physiotherapists, observe patient assessments, contribute to treatment planning, and assist with therapeutic exercises. Key Responsibilities

  • Observe and assist qualified physiotherapists in patient assessments and treatment sessions across various conditions.
  • Learn to document patient progress and contribute to case notes under supervision.
  • Support the preparation and delivery of rehabilitation exercises and programs.
  • Participate in team meetings and multidisciplinary case conferences.
  • Assist with clinic administration, equipment maintenance, and hygiene protocols.
  • Engage with patients and their families, providing support and information as guided by senior staff.
  • Actively participate in learning opportunities, including shadowing, training sessions, and professional development activities.
  • Adhere to all health service policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed an accredited Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Physiotherapy or a related Allied Health field.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated eagerness to learn and apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
  • High level of empathy, professionalism, and a patient-centered approach.
  • Basic computer proficiency for documentation and research.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous volunteer experience in a healthcare or community service setting.
  • Active involvement in university clubs or professional student organizations related to allied health.
  • Basic First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Understanding of the Australian healthcare system and community health models.
