Job Description

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Registered Midwives to join our team in Surrey, British Columbia. This is a unique opportunity for internationally qualified midwives looking to practice in Canada, as we offer comprehensive visa sponsorship and accommodation support to facilitate a smooth transition. As a Registered Midwife, you will provide primary maternity care to clients and their newborns throughout pregnancy, labour, birth, and the post-partum period, ensuring client-centred care and promoting physiological birth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care to clients and their newborns.
  • Conduct thorough assessments, monitor progress, and manage common complications during pregnancy and childbirth.
  • Offer culturally sensitive care and support to clients and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Educate clients on health promotion, disease prevention, and newborn care.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare professionals, including obstetricians, nurses, and pediatricians.
  • Maintain accurate and timely client records in accordance with professional standards.
  • Participate in on-call rotations as required.
  • Adhere to the standards of practice set by the College of Midwives of British Columbia.

Required Skills

  • Current registration or eligibility for registration with the College of Midwives of British Columbia (CMBC).
  • Successful completion of an approved midwifery education program.
  • Current CPR and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
  • Excellent clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative healthcare team.
  • Commitment to providing client-centred, evidence-based care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience practicing as a Registered Midwife (minimum 2 years).
  • Experience in a diverse community healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency in languages other than English.
  • Familiarity with the Canadian healthcare system.
