Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Pediatric Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic team in Rockville, Maryland. As a Pediatric Occupational Therapist at Kaiser Permanente, you will provide comprehensive occupational therapy services to children from infancy through adolescence with a wide range of developmental, physical, and cognitive challenges. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough evaluations and assessments of pediatric patients to determine their functional limitations and developmental needs.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient assessments, utilizing evidence-based practices.
- Provide direct occupational therapy services, including sensory integration, fine motor skills development, self-care training, and adaptive equipment recommendations.
- Educate parents, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals on therapeutic interventions and home programming.
- Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as necessary, and document all aspects of patient care accurately and timely.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, physicians, and educators, to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients.
Required Skills
- Master's or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Eligibility for Occupational Therapy licensure in the state of Maryland (support provided for international applicants to achieve this).
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist, preferably in a pediatric setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of pediatric development and common childhood conditions requiring OT intervention.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with a variety of pediatric populations, including autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, developmental delays, and sensory processing disorders.
- Specialized certifications (e.g., SIPT, NDT, DIR/Floortime).
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems.
- Multilingual abilities, especially Spanish.
