Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically capable Carpet Tear-Out Laborer to join our Home Renovation Prep team in Regina. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals who are ready to learn, work hard, and contribute to transforming homes. You will be responsible for the crucial initial phase of renovation projects, primarily focusing on the safe and efficient removal of old flooring materials, especially carpets and underpadding. Full training will be provided to ensure you understand our safety protocols and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently remove old carpeting, underpadding, and tack strips from various residential and commercial properties.
- Carefully inspect subfloors for damage or imperfections after carpet removal.
- Assist with the demolition and removal of other non-structural elements as required.
- Load removed materials and debris into designated disposal containers or trucks.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all tools are properly stored.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and company policies.
- Operate basic hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Transport tools and materials to and from job sites.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude.
- Reliable and punctual, with a commitment to showing up on time for shifts.
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites.
- Previous experience with hand tools or in a construction-related environment (though not required).
