Job Description
BrandSafway is seeking dedicated and physically robust individuals for the role of Ship Hull Barnacle Scraper, based in our Edmonton industrial operations. This physically demanding position involves working in a drydock-like environment, meticulously cleaning large industrial structures and vessels. The successful candidate will be responsible for the removal of barnacles, marine growth, and other debris, ensuring surfaces are prepared for maintenance, repair, or coating. This role requires significant manual dexterity, endurance, and a strong commitment to safety and quality work in challenging conditions. Full training on specific tools and safety protocols will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for those who thrive in a hands-on, hard-working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently remove barnacles, rust, and other deposits from large industrial structures and components using hand and power tools.
- Operate high-pressure washing equipment as required to clean surfaces.
- Follow all established safety procedures and protocols, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Inspect surfaces for remaining debris or damage after cleaning.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area and tools.
- Work effectively as part of a team to complete projects on schedule.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- Exceptional physical stamina and endurance for prolonged periods of manual labor.
- Ability to work effectively in a challenging and sometimes confined environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures and a willingness to learn and adhere to all protocols.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable transportation to and from the job site.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in industrial labor, construction, or a physically demanding role.
- Certification in WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System).
- Certification in First Aid/CPR.
- Experience with high-pressure washing equipment.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tool operation.
