Job Description
Are you looking for a challenging and rewarding role that offers specialized training and high pay? PRG is seeking a motivated and physically capable individual to join our team as a Lighting Technician’s Mate, specializing in climbing and rigging. This entry-level position is perfect for someone with a strong work ethic, an adventurous spirit, and a commitment to safety, ready to learn the ropes of professional event production. You will work closely with experienced Lighting Technicians, assisting in the installation, maintenance, and teardown of complex lighting systems for various events. Full training will be provided for all necessary climbing, rigging, and lighting techniques, preparing you for a specialized career in the live event industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior Lighting Technicians with the setup, operation, and teardown of lighting equipment and systems for various events.
- Learn and apply safe climbing and rigging techniques under direct supervision to position lighting fixtures and equipment at height.
- Safely handle, transport, and store lighting equipment, cables, and rigging hardware.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on climbing, rigging, and lighting gear.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols and industry best practices.
- Actively participate in on-the-job training sessions for lighting technology, rigging mechanics, and safety procedures.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Required Skills
- Exceptional physical fitness and stamina, with the ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs) and work at heights.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and a positive, can-do attitude.
- High degree of attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols.
- Willingness and eagerness to learn specialized climbing, rigging, and lighting techniques.
- Comfortable working in dynamic, fast-paced event environments, often involving unconventional hours.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a close-knit team.
- Basic understanding of tools and mechanical principles (preferred but not required).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in any field requiring physical labor, construction, or working at heights.
- Relevant certifications such as OSHA 10 or OSHA 30.
- Basic knowledge of theatrical or event production environments.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
