Job Description
Service New Brunswick is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Entry-Level Public Sector Shipping & Receiving Clerk in Bathurst. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start their career in logistics and public service. No prior experience in shipping or receiving is required; we are committed to providing comprehensive training to ensure your success. You will play a crucial role in the efficient movement of goods and materials within our public sector operations, ensuring that all items are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, unload, and inspect incoming shipments for discrepancies and damages.
- Verify contents against purchase orders and packing slips.
- Accurately record and document all incoming and outgoing materials.
- Organize and store inventory in designated locations, ensuring proper rotation and accessibility.
- Prepare items for outbound shipments, including packaging, labeling, and coordinating with carriers.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the shipping and receiving area.
- Assist with inventory counts and stock rotation as needed.
- Operate basic material handling equipment safely, such as hand trucks or pallet jacks (training provided).
- Communicate effectively with internal departments and external vendors regarding shipment statuses.
Required Skills
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Basic computer literacy for data entry and record-keeping.
- Ability to lift and move packages up to 50 lbs (with assistance when needed).
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- No prior experience in shipping or receiving is required; full training will be provided.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Familiarity with inventory management principles.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license.
- Experience in a public sector or government environment (volunteer or entry-level).
