Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Silo Operator Assistant to join our team for regional seasonal work in Launceston, Tasmania. This role is crucial for our harvest operations, ensuring the efficient intake, storage, and outload of various grain commodities. You will work closely with experienced operators, learning the ropes of grain handling and silo management in a fast-paced environment. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain experience in the agricultural sector, offering comprehensive on-the-job training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Silo Operators with the safe and efficient operation of grain receival, storage, and outloading equipment.
  • Monitor grain quality and quantity during intake, reporting any discrepancies.
  • Perform general site maintenance, including cleaning and tidying of work areas.
  • Operate basic machinery and equipment as directed, following all safety protocols.
  • Conduct routine checks on equipment and infrastructure, escalating issues to senior staff.
  • Participate in daily safety briefings and adhere strictly to all health and safety guidelines.
  • Assist with sampling and testing of grain as required.
  • Contribute to a positive and productive team environment during peak seasonal periods.

  • Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour, including lifting and climbing.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and technologies.

  • Capacity to work extended hours, including weekends, during peak season.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in an agricultural, industrial, or outdoor work environment.
  • Current Driver's License.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Forklift license (LF class).
