Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Dermatologist to join our esteemed medical team at Spire Fylde Coast Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert diagnosis, treatment, and management of a wide range of dermatological conditions, both medical and cosmetic. This role requires a commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care, actively participating in clinical governance, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our dermatological services. You will work within a supportive and collaborative environment, utilising advanced facilities to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive dermatological consultations, examinations, and assessments.
- Diagnose and treat various skin, hair, and nail conditions, including eczema, psoriasis, acne, skin cancers, and complex dermatoses.
- Perform dermatological procedures such as biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy, and laser treatments.
- Develop and implement personalised treatment plans in collaboration with patients.
- Provide expert advice on skin health, disease prevention, and cosmetic dermatology.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and collaborate with other specialists.
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient records in compliance with clinical standards.
- Engage in continuous professional development and adhere to GMC guidelines.
- Contribute to clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
Required Skills
- Full GMC registration and valid Licence to Practise.
- CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) in Dermatology or equivalent specialist registration.
- Extensive clinical experience as a Consultant Dermatologist.
- Proficiency in diagnostic and therapeutic dermatological procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong commitment to patient safety and quality care.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Up-to-date knowledge of dermatological advancements and best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) or equivalent.
- Experience in teaching or supervising junior medical staff.
- Special interest or sub-specialty expertise in an area of dermatology (e.g., dermatological surgery, paediatric dermatology, dermatopathology).
- Active participation in dermatological research or publications.
