Job Description

This is a key role supporting our mission by securing vital funding. The Grant Writer will be responsible for researching, preparing, and submitting compelling grant proposals to various funding bodies, foundations, and government agencies. This 100% remote position requires a self-starter with excellent writing and research skills, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for community impact. You will collaborate with program managers and team leaders to understand funding needs and translate project goals into persuasive narratives that resonate with potential funders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and identify potential grant opportunities from government, corporate, and philanthropic sources.
  • Develop and write clear, concise, and compelling grant proposals, applications, and reports.
  • Collaborate with program staff to gather necessary information, data, and stories for grant submissions.
  • Manage a grant pipeline and maintain a calendar of submission deadlines.
  • Ensure all grant applications comply with funder guidelines and requirements.
  • Track and report on the status of submitted proposals and funding outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records of grant activities and correspondence.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in grant writing, ideally within the non-profit or community sector.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong research and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice and community development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Non-profit Management, or a related field.
  • Experience with grant management software (e.g., Salesforce, Blackbaud, SmartyGrants).
  • Understanding of government funding processes in Australia.
  • Knowledge of the social services landscape in regional Australia.
