MidAmerican Energy Company is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Trainee Gas/Electricity Inspectors. Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in all required training programs related to gas and electricity systems, safety protocols, and regulatory standards.
- Under supervision, learn to conduct routine inspections of gas pipelines, meters, electrical lines, transformers, and other utility equipment.
- Assist in identifying potential safety hazards, defects, and non-compliance issues within the utility infrastructure.
- Document inspection findings accurately and clearly using company-provided tools and software.
- Learn to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and operational manuals.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as industry regulations.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding inspection progress and findings.
- Develop a strong understanding of state and federal utility codes and standards.
- Assist experienced inspectors with various tasks as needed.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to learn new technical concepts quickly and apply them in practical settings.
- Excellent attention to detail and observational skills.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to protocols.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to perform fieldwork, including walking, standing, bending, and lifting in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree or vocational training in a technical field (e.g., HVAC, electrical, mechanical).
