Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Support Worker to join our team in Kin Kora, Gladstone. This vital role focuses on providing direct clinical support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges, working under the guidance of clinical professionals. You will play a key role in implementing recovery-oriented care plans, promoting independence, and fostering a supportive environment that enhances the well-being of our clients. This position requires empathy, strong communication skills, and a commitment to person-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct emotional and practical support to clients in accordance with their individual care plans.
  • Assist clients with daily living activities, medication reminders, and appointment attendance as required.
  • Monitor and report on client progress, noting any changes in their mental state or behavior to clinical staff.
  • Facilitate social inclusion and community engagement activities to reduce isolation.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic client care.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated understanding of mental health conditions and recovery-oriented practice.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
  • Valid Australian Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate III or IV in Mental Health, Community Services, or a related field.
  • Previous experience working in a mental health support role.
  • Familiarity with local community resources and support networks in Gladstone.
