Job Description
Are you looking for a rewarding career where you can help people and receive comprehensive training? SafeCare Patient Transport is seeking motivated and compassionate individuals to join our team as Patient Transport Officers for non-emergency services in Hervey Bay. No prior experience in patient transport is required, as full training will be provided to successful candidates. This role involves safely transporting patients who require assistance but do not have immediate life-threatening conditions. You will be responsible for ensuring patient comfort, dignity, and safety throughout their journey, working with a supportive team and state-of-the-art equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport patients to and from medical facilities, residences, and other locations as scheduled.
- Assist patients with mobility, including transferring to and from wheelchairs, beds, and stretchers.
- Operate transport vehicles safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Maintain a clean and organized vehicle, ensuring all equipment is in good working order.
- Complete accurate patient transport records and administrative documentation.
- Communicate effectively with patients, their families, medical staff, and dispatch.
- Provide basic first aid and comfort measures as needed, within the scope of non-emergency care.
- Adhere to strict confidentiality and privacy guidelines regarding patient information.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development as required by the company.
Required Skills
- Current and valid Australian Driver's License (unrestricted).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a caring attitude towards others.
- Physical ability to assist patients with mobility and lift/manoeuvre equipment.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and medical assessment.
- Commitment to learning and adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Previous experience in a customer service or care-giving role.
- Knowledge of the Hervey Bay and surrounding Fraser Coast region.
