Job Description
Are you ready for an unforgettable summer filled with adventure, personal growth, and the joy of working with young people? Outward Bound Australia is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Summer Camp Counselors to join our team in Cairns, QLD. This is an incredible opportunity to spend your summer amidst stunning natural landscapes, guiding campers through exciting activities, and fostering a supportive community. No prior experience? No problem! We provide comprehensive training to equip you with all the skills you need to succeed. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise campers during daily activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Lead and facilitate a variety of outdoor and camp-based activities, including hiking, swimming, team games, and arts & crafts.
- Act as a positive role model, mentor, and guide for campers, fostering their personal growth and confidence.
- Assist with the planning and implementation of camp schedules and programs.
- Encourage teamwork, respect, and responsibility among campers.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe camp environment.
- Communicate effectively with fellow staff, campers, and their parents/guardians.
- Participate in staff training sessions and ongoing professional development.
Required Skills

- A love for the outdoors and willingness to engage in various physical activities

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a camp setting, youth group, or childcare role (volunteer or paid)
- Certifications in specific outdoor activities (e.g., lifeguard, ropes course, kayaking)
- Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or willingness to obtain one
- Knowledge of local flora, fauna, and environmental education principles
