Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Hospital Supply Officer with a strong focus on medical inventory management to join our dynamic team at Westmead Hospital. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and accurate flow of medical supplies throughout the hospital, supporting patient care and operational effectiveness. This position requires a proactive individual with excellent organizational skills and a commitment to maintaining optimal stock levels for various departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the receipt, storage, and distribution of medical supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using hospital's inventory management system.
  • Conduct regular stocktakes and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Process supply requests from various hospital departments promptly and accurately.
  • Monitor stock levels to prevent shortages or overstocking, initiating reorders as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, as well as hospital policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with suppliers and procurement teams regarding orders and deliveries.
  • Assist in the identification and rotation of expiring stock to minimize waste.
  • Prepare reports on inventory levels, consumption, and supply chain performance.

Required Skills

  • Proven ability to manage inventory and supply chain processes effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in using inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical ability to lift and move supplies as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a hospital, healthcare, or warehouse/logistics setting.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and supply products.
  • Forklift license (preferred, but not essential).
  • Relevant vocational training or certification in logistics or supply chain management.
