Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Medical Receptionist to take on a Lead role within our large and busy medical group located in Norwood, SA. This pivotal position is ideal for an individual with a strong administrative background in healthcare, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for patient service. As the Lead Medical Receptionist, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the reception area, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring the highest standards of patient care and administrative efficiency. You will be at the forefront of our patient experience, playing a crucial role in the smooth running of our clinic.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage daily reception operations, ensuring efficient patient flow and clinic schedule adherence.
- Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to junior medical reception staff.
- Manage complex appointment scheduling, patient registrations, and recall systems.
- Handle all patient inquiries, feedback, and complaints with empathy, professionalism, and discretion.
- Ensure accurate and confidential maintenance of patient records, adhering to privacy regulations.
- Process patient billing, manage payments, and liaise with Medicare and private health insurers.
- Coordinate effectively with doctors, nurses, and other medical staff to optimize clinic operations.
- Maintain a welcoming and organized reception area, managing office supplies and equipment.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for reception processes and patient experience.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical reception role, with demonstrated leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
- Proficiency in medical practice management software (e.g., Best Practice, MedicalDirector).
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with a strong customer service orientation.
- Superior organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve issues calmly and effectively, maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in administrative tasks.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate III or IV in Business Administration (Medical) or equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience working within a large group practice or multi-disciplinary clinic setting.
- Familiarity with Australian healthcare systems, including Medicare and private health insurance billing procedures.
