Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and responsible Medical Sample Courier to join our team in Gatineau. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient transportation of medical samples between clinics, hospitals, and our laboratory facilities. A company vehicle will be provided for all work-related duties, including fuel, maintenance, and insurance. We require a candidate with an impeccable driving record who is committed to following strict protocols for sample integrity and patient privacy. Full training on medical sample handling and procedures will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport medical samples (e.g., blood, urine, tissues) between designated locations in the Gatineau region.
- Operate and maintain a company-provided vehicle in accordance with Dynacare policies and all provincial traffic laws.
- Adhere strictly to established protocols for sample handling, temperature control, and biohazard management.
- Accurately complete daily route logs, manifests, and documentation for all pickups and deliveries.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with dispatch, laboratory staff, and clinic personnel.
- Ensure the secure and confidential handling of all medical samples and patient information.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the company vehicle, reporting any maintenance needs promptly.
- Maintain a professional appearance and uphold Dynacare's service standards at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid G class driver's license (or equivalent provincial license)
- Clean driving record (driver's abstract required upon application)
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and navigate efficiently using GPS
- Fluency in both English and French (oral and written) due to the service area
- Reliability and a strong work ethic
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a courier or delivery role (medical-related preferred but not required)
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology or specimen handling procedures (training provided)
- First Aid/CPR certification
