Job Description

Join the dedicated team at Whyalla Equestrian Centre as a Stable Hand, focusing on morning shifts. This role is perfect for individuals with a genuine passion for horses and a strong work ethic. You will play a crucial part in ensuring the health, happiness, and well-being of our horses through daily care, mucking out, feeding, and maintaining a clean and safe stable environment. We are looking for a reliable and responsible individual eager to contribute to a supportive and horse-centric community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily mucking out and bedding down stables.
  • Feeding horses according to specific dietary plans.
  • Turning horses out to paddocks and bringing them in.
  • Grooming and basic horse handling.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and tidiness of the stable yard, feed rooms, and equipment.
  • Assisting with minor stable repairs and maintenance.
  • Monitoring horses for any signs of illness or injury and reporting to management.
  • Ensuring water troughs are clean and full.

Required Skills

  • Genuine passion for horses and animal welfare.
  • Reliability and punctuality for early morning shifts.
  • Ability to follow instructions meticulously.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Physical fitness and ability to perform demanding tasks (lifting hay bales, mucking out).
  • Excellent attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (formal or informal) working with or caring for horses.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Basic knowledge of horse health and first aid.
  • Ability to operate basic farm equipment (e.g., wheelbarrow, rake).
