Job Description
Join our compassionate team as an Aged Care Support Worker within a state-government operated facility in Gosford. This vital full-time role involves providing direct care and support to elderly residents, helping them maintain their independence, dignity, and quality of life. You will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team, dedicated to creating a safe, comfortable, and engaging environment for our residents. We are looking for individuals with a genuine passion for aged care, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to person-centred support.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist residents with personal care activities including showering, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Support residents with mobility and transfers, using appropriate aids and techniques.
- Aid in meal preparation and feeding, ensuring dietary requirements are met and promoting a positive dining experience.
- Provide emotional support, companionship, and engage residents in social and recreational activities.
- Perform light domestic duties to maintain a clean and tidy living environment for residents.
- Observe and report changes in residents' health, behaviour, or well-being to nursing staff.
- Accurately complete documentation and maintain clear, concise records of care provided.
- Adhere to all facility policies, procedures, and WHS guidelines.
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with residents, their families, and colleagues.
Required Skills
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Aged Care) or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in an aged care setting (minimum 12 months).
- Current First Aid Certificate and CPR.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong observational and reporting skills.
- Understanding of resident rights and person-centred care principles.
- Current Australian Driver's License and access to reliable transport.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within a state government or public health facility.
- Knowledge of dementia care strategies.
- Experience with palliative care.
- Additional language skills are highly regarded.
