Job Description
We are seeking a highly organised and dedicated School Admin Manager to join our State Department of Education team in Darwin. This pivotal role involves overseeing the day-to-day administrative operations of a school, ensuring efficient and effective support for teaching staff, students, and parents. The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining a positive and productive school environment, managing resources, and implementing departmental policies. This position requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving within an educational setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise administrative staff, including task delegation and performance management.
- Oversee school financial operations, including budgeting, invoicing, and procurement in compliance with departmental guidelines.
- Ensure efficient management of school records, student enrolments, and attendance systems.
- Coordinate and manage school facilities, resources, and equipment maintenance.
- Act as a primary point of contact for parents, students, staff, and external stakeholders regarding administrative matters.
- Implement and maintain departmental policies and procedures related to school administration and compliance.
- Assist with the coordination of school events, meetings, and parent-teacher interviews.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and correspondence as required by the school principal and department.
- Manage staff leave, timesheets, and payroll-related administrative duties.
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive school culture for all members of the community.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in administrative management, preferably within an educational or public sector environment.
- Exceptional organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in office software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, school management systems).
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Sound understanding of financial procedures, including budgeting and resource allocation.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping and data management.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
- Knowledge of Northern Territory government policies and educational regulations.
- Experience with human resources administrative processes.
- First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
