Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Embedded Systems Firmware Intern to join our engineering team in Canterbury. This is an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates eager to gain hands-on experience in the exciting field of embedded systems development. You will work closely with experienced engineers, supporting the design, development, and testing of firmware for various innovative products. This internship provides a practical learning environment where you can apply your C/C++ programming knowledge and develop a deeper understanding of real-world embedded applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior engineers in the design, development, and testing of embedded firmware solutions.
  • Contribute to writing and maintaining clean, efficient, and robust C/C++ code for microcontrollers.
  • Participate in debugging and troubleshooting embedded hardware and software issues.
  • Document code, specifications, and test procedures.
  • Support the integration and verification of firmware components.
  • Engage in team meetings, code reviews, and technical discussions to learn and contribute to project success.

Required Skills

  • Basic understanding of C/C++ programming language.
  • Familiarity with fundamental concepts of microcontrollers or embedded systems (e.g., personal projects with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or similar platforms).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Eagerness to learn, adapt, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with version control systems, particularly Git.
  • Basic understanding of embedded communication protocols (e.g., UART, SPI, I2C).
  • Prior academic or personal project experience involving embedded systems firmware development.
  • Familiarity with basic electronic circuits and hardware components.
