Job Description

We are seeking a talented and motivated Acoustic Engineer to join our dynamic team in Fareham, Hampshire. Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting noise and vibration measurements, monitoring, and analysis using advanced equipment and software.
  • Developing detailed acoustic models and simulations for various project types, including buildings, transport infrastructure, and industrial sites.
  • Designing and specifying acoustic treatments and solutions to meet project requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Preparing comprehensive technical reports, presentations, and design documentation.
  • Collaborating effectively with multi-disciplinary project teams, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Providing expert acoustic advice and guidance throughout all project stages, from concept to completion.
  • Staying abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and relevant legislation in acoustics.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to knowledge sharing within the team.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in acoustic engineering, including noise control, building acoustics, and environmental noise assessment.
  • Proficiency in acoustic modeling software (e.g., Odeon, CATT-Acoustic, EASE, SoundPLAN).
  • Strong understanding of acoustic principles, standards, and regulations (e.g., BS 4142, PPG24, BB93, HTM 08-01).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and client interaction.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.
  • A bachelor's degree in Acoustics, Physics, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Master's degree in Acoustics or a relevant field.
  • Membership in a professional acoustic body (e.g., Institute of Acoustics – IoA).
  • Experience with advanced noise mapping software or computational fluid dynamics (CFD) for acoustic applications.
  • Demonstrated experience in a consultancy environment working on large-scale, complex projects.
  • Experience with programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for data analysis and automation.
