Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Agroforestry & Soil Conservation Intern to join our sustainability initiatives team. This entry-level internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in sustainable agriculture practices, including agroforestry systems, soil health management, and ecological restoration. You will work alongside experienced professionals, contributing to projects aimed at enhancing biodiversity, improving soil quality, and promoting climate-resilient farming techniques across our network. Full training will be provided to ensure your success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of agroforestry projects, including tree planting and species selection.
  • Conduct field assessments of soil health, erosion, and water quality using established protocols.
  • Collect and analyze data related to soil samples, plant growth, and environmental factors.
  • Support the development and dissemination of educational materials on soil conservation and agroforestry practices.
  • Participate in the maintenance and monitoring of experimental plots and demonstration sites.
  • Document project progress, prepare reports, and contribute to presentations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners on sustainability initiatives.
  • Learn and apply best practices in land management and ecological restoration.

Required Skills

  • Strong interest in environmental science, agriculture, forestry, or related fields.
  • Excellent observational and data collection skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Physical ability to perform fieldwork in varying weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an associate's or bachelor's degree program in environmental science, agriculture, natural resource management, forestry, or a closely related discipline.
  • Basic understanding of ecological principles and agricultural systems.
  • Experience with GIS software or data analysis tools is a plus, but not required.
  • Previous volunteer experience in conservation or agricultural settings.
