Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Anesthesiologist to join our dynamic team at The University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, VT. Key Responsibilities
- Administer anesthesia for various surgical, obstetrical, and diagnostic procedures.
- Conduct pre-anesthetic assessments and evaluations of patients to determine appropriate anesthetic plans.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and physiological responses during and after anesthesia.
- Manage acute pain services, including epidural and nerve block placements.
- Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and educational activities.
- Maintain accurate and complete patient records in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
- Provide post-anesthetic care and follow-up as necessary.
- Supervise and educate residents and medical students, if applicable to experience and interest.
Required Skills
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
- Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology residency program.
- Board Certification or Board Eligibility by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
- Valid medical license in the State of Vermont or eligibility to obtain one.
- DEA registration.
- BLS and ACLS certification.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to patient safety and quality care.
Preferred Qualifications
- Subspecialty fellowship training (e.g., Cardiac Anesthesia, Pediatric Anesthesia, Pain Management).
- Experience working in an academic medical center setting.
- Active involvement in clinical research or quality improvement projects.
- Fluency in multiple languages.
