Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Anesthesiologist to join our dynamic team at The University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, VT. Key Responsibilities

  • Administer anesthesia for various surgical, obstetrical, and diagnostic procedures.
  • Conduct pre-anesthetic assessments and evaluations of patients to determine appropriate anesthetic plans.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and physiological responses during and after anesthesia.
  • Manage acute pain services, including epidural and nerve block placements.
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and educational activities.
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient records in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide post-anesthetic care and follow-up as necessary.
  • Supervise and educate residents and medical students, if applicable to experience and interest.

Required Skills

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
  • Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology residency program.
  • Board Certification or Board Eligibility by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
  • Valid medical license in the State of Vermont or eligibility to obtain one.
  • DEA registration.
  • BLS and ACLS certification.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient safety and quality care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Subspecialty fellowship training (e.g., Cardiac Anesthesia, Pediatric Anesthesia, Pain Management).
  • Experience working in an academic medical center setting.
  • Active involvement in clinical research or quality improvement projects.
  • Fluency in multiple languages.
