Job Description

We are seeking highly motivated individuals to join the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) as a Baggage Inspector at Nashville International Airport (BNA). In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our nation’s air transportation system by conducting thorough inspections of checked and carry-on baggage. This position requires vigilance, attention to detail, and a commitment to protecting the traveling public. Full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate sophisticated X-ray and other imaging technologies to screen baggage and cargo.
  • Physically inspect baggage and other items when anomalies are detected, following established protocols.
  • Identify and prevent prohibited items, including explosives, weapons, and other dangerous articles, from entering the transportation system.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor while interacting with passengers and airport personnel.
  • Adhere to all federal regulations, policies, and procedures related to aviation security.
  • Complete required training and maintain all necessary certifications.
  • Participate in continuous training and development programs to stay updated on security threats and screening techniques.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic airport environment.

Required Skills

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/carry objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Excellent observation and analytical skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with diverse groups.
  • Ability to make sound judgments under pressure and respond to critical incidents effectively.
  • Basic computer proficiency for operating screening equipment and data entry.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Ability to pass a stringent federal background check and drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED certificate.
  • Prior experience in a security-related field or customer service environment.
  • Knowledge of federal security regulations.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
