Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Auction Car Driver to join our team in St Austell, Cornwall. In this role, you will be responsible for safely moving a variety of vehicles across our auction lot, preparing them for sale, and ensuring their proper placement. This is an essential role that supports the smooth operation of our vehicle auctions. No prior professional driving experience beyond holding a valid license is required; comprehensive training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely drive and park various types of vehicles (cars, vans, light trucks) within the auction facility.
- Move vehicles to and from designated areas, including inspection bays, photography stations, and sales lanes.
- Ensure vehicles are parked in an organized and efficient manner according to lot layout.
- Adhere strictly to all site safety procedures and traffic rules while operating vehicles.
- Conduct pre-trip checks on vehicles for basic operational readiness (e.g., fuel level, tire pressure).
- Report any vehicle damage or operational issues observed during movement.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment on the auction lot.
- Assist with other general site duties as required to support auction operations.
Required Skills
- Valid UK driving license (Category B minimum).
- Clean driving record (minimal or no points).
- Ability to drive both automatic and manual transmission vehicles.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
- Good spatial awareness and parking skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating a wide range of vehicle types.
- Familiarity with auction environments.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics.
