Job Description
GHD is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented BASIX Consultant to join our dynamic Planning team in Wodonga. In this role, you will play a crucial part in assisting clients with their residential development projects, ensuring compliance with the Building Sustainability Index (BASIX) requirements primarily for projects located in New South Wales. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a passion for sustainable building practices and a solid understanding of planning regulations to contribute to impactful projects that shape communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare comprehensive BASIX Certificates and reports for various residential developments.
- Conduct detailed assessments of architectural plans, specifications, and building materials against BASIX targets for energy, water, and thermal comfort.
- Provide expert advice to clients, architects, and builders on BASIX requirements, sustainable design strategies, and potential compliance solutions.
- Liaise with local councils and relevant authorities regarding BASIX submissions and approvals for NSW-based projects.
- Stay abreast of changes in BASIX regulations, industry best practices, and sustainable building technologies.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate sustainability principles into broader project scopes.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outcomes.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated understanding of the NSW Building Sustainability Index (BASIX) requirements and assessment methodology.
- Proficiency in interpreting architectural drawings and building specifications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report writing and client liaison.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced consulting environment.
- Proficiency with relevant software for sustainability assessments (e.g., BASIX online tool, energy modelling software).
Preferred Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Architecture, Building Design, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, or a related field.
- Experience working in a consulting environment or a planning/development role.
- Knowledge of other Australian building sustainability rating tools (e.g., NatHERS, Green Star).
- Membership with relevant professional bodies (e.g., Planning Institute of Australia, Green Building Council of Australia).
