Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Bookbinding & Paper Arts Intern to join our dedicated team. This is an incredible entry-level opportunity for someone eager to learn the traditional crafts of bookbinding and paper artistry from experienced professionals. No prior experience is required; we are looking for individuals with a strong desire to learn and grow within a creative, hands-on environment. As an intern, you will gain practical skills in various aspects of book and paper conservation, restoration, and creation, offering invaluable mentorship and the chance to contribute to unique projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior bookbinders and artists with various stages of book production and restoration.
- Prepare materials, including cutting paper, fabric, and leather to specified dimensions.
- Support in the organization and maintenance of the studio space, tools, and supplies.
- Learn and practice fundamental bookbinding techniques, such as folding, stitching, and casing-in.
- Aid in the preparation and setup for workshops and community events.
- Perform quality checks on materials and finished products under supervision.
- Engage in continuous learning about different paper types, adhesives, and conservation methods.
Required Skills
- A genuine passion for bookbinding, paper arts, or traditional crafts.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Eagerness to learn new skills and follow instructions precisely.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.

- Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally and stand for extended periods.
