Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and reliable Bridge Maintenance Hands to join our civil infrastructure team based in Surfers Paradise. In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining the structural integrity and operational safety of bridges across our regional network. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are physically fit, safety-conscious, and eager to contribute to essential public works. Full training will be provided to ensure you are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform your duties effectively and safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the inspection, repair, and maintenance of various bridge components.
- Perform tasks such as concrete patching, steelwork repair, painting, joint sealing, and vegetation management around bridge structures.
- Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently under supervision.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, procedures, and departmental guidelines.
- Participate in site setup and pack-down, including traffic control implementation as required.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Undertake general labouring duties as directed to support maintenance operations.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour in various weather conditions.
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively within a team environment.
- Basic understanding of tools and equipment used in construction or maintenance (training provided).
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and techniques.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current Queensland C-class driver’s license.
- White Card (Construction Induction Card).
- Experience working in an outdoor or physically demanding role.
- Basic first aid certification.
