Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically capable Bulk Goods Handler to join our team in Geraldton. This ongoing full-time position is ideal for individuals with experience in heavy industrial environments who are committed to safety and operational excellence. You will be responsible for the efficient and safe loading, unloading, and movement of various bulk commodities using heavy machinery within our port and logistics facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy machinery including front-end loaders, forklifts, and other material handling equipment to load, unload, and stack bulk goods.
- Conduct pre-start checks and routine maintenance inspections on equipment, reporting any faults or issues promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and relevant regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Assist with general yard duties, site clean-up, and ensuring the operational areas are kept tidy and organised.
- Monitor material flow and identify potential bottlenecks or hazards.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other site personnel.
- Participate in safety meetings and training programs as required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience working in a heavy industrial, port, or logistics environment (minimum 12 months).
- Demonstrated ability to safely operate heavy machinery, particularly front-end loaders.
- Strong understanding and commitment to workplace health and safety practices.
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labour as required.
- Valid Australian driver's license.
- Basic mechanical aptitude to assist with minor equipment checks.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant heavy machinery licenses or tickets (e.g., Forklift (LF), Front-End Loader (LL), HR license).
- Previous experience in bulk commodity handling (e.g., grain, mineral sands, concentrates).
- First Aid certification.
- White Card (Construction Induction).
