Job Description

AECOM is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Carbon Farming Advisor to join our growing environmental sustainability team in Chatswood, NSW. This pivotal role involves providing expert advice and support to clients across the agricultural sector on best practices for carbon sequestration, greenhouse gas emission reduction, and sustainable land management. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and implementing carbon farming projects, assessing their feasibility, and ensuring compliance with relevant environmental standards and carbon market frameworks. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert technical advice on carbon farming methodologies, practices, and technologies to diverse agricultural clients.
  • Conduct on-site assessments of farms and agricultural operations to identify opportunities for carbon sequestration and emission reduction.
  • Develop tailored carbon farming plans, including strategy, implementation timelines, and monitoring protocols.
  • Assist clients with data collection, analysis, and reporting for carbon credit schemes and environmental certifications.
  • Stay abreast of national and international policies, regulations, and market trends related to carbon farming and sustainable agriculture.
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions for clients on carbon farming principles and practices.
  • Collaborate with internal multidisciplinary teams (e.g., environmental engineers, ecologists) to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, proposals, and presentations for clients and stakeholders.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Science, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in agriculture, land management, or environmental consulting, with a focus on sustainability or carbon initiatives.
  • Demonstrated understanding of carbon farming principles, greenhouse gas accounting, and climate change impacts on agriculture.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex scientific data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Valid Australian Driver's License and willingness to travel for client site visits.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field (e.g., Master's in Sustainable Agriculture, Environmental Management).
  • Experience with GIS software for land analysis and mapping.
  • Knowledge of Australian carbon credit schemes (e.g., ERF) and other sustainability certification programs.
  • Familiarity with agricultural software and data management systems.
  • Proven track record in client management and project delivery.
