Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Cardiac Nurse to join our dedicated cardiology team at Spire Southampton Hospital. In this pivotal role, you will provide specialist nursing care to patients with a wide range of cardiac conditions, from admission through to discharge. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and clinical outcomes. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your expertise in cardiac nursing within a state-of-the-art facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert cardiac nursing care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring patient responses and reporting changes.
- Educate patients and their families on cardiac conditions, treatment plans, and preventative measures.
- Assist with diagnostic procedures and interventions, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records, adhering to hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate effectively with cardiologists, physiotherapists, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in ward rounds, case conferences, and contribute to care planning.
- Ensure a safe and clean environment for patients, adhering to infection control protocols.
Required Skills
- Registered Nurse (RN) with current NMC registration.
- Minimum 2 years of post-registration experience, preferably within a medical or surgical setting.
- Strong understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and common cardiac conditions.
- Proficient in ECG interpretation.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage a caseload of patients.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a cardiology ward, cardiac catheterisation lab, or CCU/HDU setting.
- Relevant post-basic qualification in cardiology nursing.
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.
- Experience with specialist cardiac equipment (e.g., cardiac monitors, pacemakers).
