Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and physically fit Catering Van Loader to join our operations in Solihull. This on-site role is crucial for ensuring the accurate and timely dispatch of catering supplies to our diverse customer base. You will be responsible for loading and unloading vans, handling a variety of catering equipment, including warmers and coolers, and ensuring all items are correctly secured for transport. This role involves regular heavy lifting and requires meticulous attention to detail to maintain the integrity of our deliveries. Full training will be provided to the successful candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately load and unload catering vans with food products, warmers, coolers, and other catering equipment.
  • Verify product quantities and ensure items match dispatch manifests and order sheets.
  • Securely pack and organize all items within vans to prevent damage during transit.
  • Operate manual handling equipment (e.g., pallet trucks, trolleys) safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe work environment within the loading bay and surrounding areas.
  • Adhere strictly to all company health, safety, and hygiene regulations, particularly concerning food handling and temperature control.
  • Report any discrepancies, damages, or safety concerns immediately to a supervisor.
  • Assist with general warehouse duties as required to support overall depot operations.

Required Skills

  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift and carry heavy items repeatedly (up to 25kg).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in order fulfillment.
  • Reliability and punctuality are essential.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Commitment to adhering to safety and hygiene protocols.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or food service environment (though full training will be provided).
  • Familiarity with manual handling techniques and best practices.
  • Basic understanding of food safety principles.
