Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic City Recreation Center Supervisor to oversee the daily operations and ensure the smooth running of one of our key community recreation centers in Barking. This pivotal role involves managing staff, coordinating programs, ensuring facility safety, and fostering a welcoming environment for all visitors. The successful candidate will be instrumental in delivering engaging recreational services that meet the diverse needs of our local community.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations of the recreation center, including opening and closing procedures, facility upkeep, and activity scheduling.
- Supervise, train, and mentor a team of recreation staff, ensuring high standards of service delivery and adherence to council policies.
- Plan, organize, and promote a variety of recreational programs, classes, and events for all age groups.
- Ensure the safety of all participants and staff by implementing and enforcing health and safety regulations and emergency procedures.
- Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints effectively and professionally.
- Manage equipment inventory, facility bookings, and maintain accurate records.
- Collaborate with community groups, schools, and other stakeholders to enhance program offerings and community participation.
Required Skills
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience, preferably in a recreational or community service setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with staff, public, and stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by center operations.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Current First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe.
Preferred Qualifications
- A degree or relevant qualification in Leisure Management, Sports Science, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Experience with budget management and facility scheduling software.
- Knowledge of local government operations and community engagement strategies.
- Prior experience working with diverse community groups.
