Job Description
Are you passionate about making a difference in people’s lives through rehabilitation? Mater Private Hospital Bundaberg is excited to offer a Clinical Placement opportunity in Rehabilitation Therapy. This placement is designed for enthusiastic students eager to gain practical, hands-on experience in a real-world clinical setting. You will work alongside experienced therapists, learning directly from professionals dedicated to restoring function and improving the quality of life for our patients. This is an entry-level placement where full training and mentorship will be provided, making it ideal for individuals with no prior clinical experience but a strong desire to learn and contribute to patient recovery journeys.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist qualified rehabilitation therapists in daily patient care activities.
- Observe and participate in therapy sessions (e.g., physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology).
- Help prepare treatment areas and equipment.
- Support patients during exercises and mobility assistance under direct supervision.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records as required.
- Engage in continuous learning and professional development.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a relevant university degree program (e.g., Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Exercise Physiology).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Empathy and a compassionate approach to patient care.
- Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Basic understanding of human anatomy and physiology (from coursework).
Preferred Qualifications
- First Aid and CPR certification (current).
- Experience with volunteer work in a healthcare setting.
- Demonstrated commitment to the field of rehabilitation.
